Merry Christmas from Maui...

It turns out they have free network connections in our rooms. So here's some photos from today. Merry Christmas to all.

That's pretty much how I spent my day. I went running in the morning, and I walked the beach a few times. Now that's Christmas...

That's our hotel from down the beach. There's more to it off to the right.

Here's the view from our cabanas. I haven't been diving off Blackrock yet this holiday, but I think I will tomorow.

Merry Christmas...

I'm back in the Okanagan for some nice winter weather before we take off for Maui. Posting will likely be non-existant while I'm over there, but I'll have some nice photos when I get back.

So far we've had a fantastic turkey dinner, and some snow.

Muslim youth group to guard Christmas celebrations...

Now this is good news. A very pleasant surprise considering the normal news coming out of Indonesia. Not all the news in the world is bad obviously. Thanks to Damian Penny for the link.

JAKARTA, DECEMBER 9: Volunteers from Indonesia's largest Islamic organisation will guard churches across the world's most populous Muslim nation on Christmas amid fears of terrorist attacks on those places, the group said on Friday.
A youth wing affiliated with Indonesia's largest Muslim group Nahdlatul Ulama, some 40 million strong, said that members would guard churches for the coming Christmas festivities and it had persuaded youths from other religions to join the project.

I added the link to Nahdlatul Ulama because I'm a sucker for links. Not that I can read a single thing on that page or that I know anything about the group beyond what I read in the stub that Wikipedia has...

Where do you all live?

A few days ago I added a Clustrmap to my template. It's a nice little thing, but it doesn't actually tell me who is where or distinguish between hits. I'm not even sure it distinguishes between search engine spiders and proper hits. (Have two people in Norway really been reading my blog?)

So I added a Frappr link to my template as well. Unlike ClustrMaps, Frappr is an entirely voluntary geographic guestbook. So feel free to sign it or check out where everyone else lives. Langley wasn't listed, so I had to choose Vancouver and then nudge my marker over to the intersection of 200th & Highway 1 after I created my account. No, I don't live on the overpass, but I also don't want to put my exact address up here. :)

So far, there's only three people in this group. The furthest away so far is Lahaina. I didn't know you read my blog Ryan...

Issachar to Liberals... Stop with the FUD!

Yesterday, Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh accused the NDP of being in an unholy Alliance with the seperatists and the Conservatives. Oh please. Will you stop the FUD now? It's stupid and it's ticking me off. I mean it would just be pathetic if it weren't so corrosive to our democracy.

The NDP is not in an alliance with the Bloc. The Conservatives are not in an alliance with the Bloc. The Liberal Party is not the sole guardian of all things Canadian and when you try to pretend that any of these things are true, you're polarizing the electorate to your own benefit and the nation's detriment.

Every time I read that kind of crap it makes it every less likely that I'll ever vote Liberal. If you want to be the FUD party, just keep doing what you're doing.
