Driving in the Okanagan...
I have a lot of complaints about the driving in the Okanagan, from people who don't know how to merge going down the bridge hill to people who think that the left lane is the only possible lane to be in when you're driving between Westbank and Boucherie, but I found a new reason to complain the night before last.
I ended up calling the police on my way home from a friend's place in Kelowna Friday night. Some guy (I assume) in a truck was either drunk or way too tired to be driving. It was only 11:30, so I'm guessing it was alcohol rather than lack of sleep, but exhaustion can be just as deadly. (Thank you Caleb & Andy for pointing that one out to me...) Why is it that people who would never drive after drinking too much will get behind the wheel of a car with their eyelids drooping?
Update: August 10th 12:55pm
Carla points out that my writing is confusing. (See comments). Merge at the bottom of the bridge hill people.

Posted by: CarlaOh Gorms do I hear ya! I am certainly looking forward to dealing with 'kelowna traffic' when I get home.
Some (close to) elderly man once gave me 'the finger' while I was trying to merge in. (and I was merging politely!) He was apparently from the 'old school' of thought which thought it was necessary to merge immediately after Boucherie.
Seriously, the finger?
Gorms, I had to read your post a couple of times... are you one of those people that don't like people driving in the left lane, who then merge where it says 'merge'? Or do you mean drive in the left lane all the time on the highway, before bridge hill?

Posted by: issacharOh, you're definitely supposed to merge at the bottom of the hill. Sorry for the confusion. (I guess I was having too much fun with google maps).
It's the people getting passed while they're sitting in the left lane driving by Boucherie that are infuriating.
The left lane is the passing lane for faster traffic. The infuriating people are the ones who think the left lane is "their" lane and they use it no matter how fast they're going.
Note to bad drivers: If you're in the passing lane and someone is passing you, YOU'RE IN THE WRONG LANE!
